Finding Utopia - Episode 2 & 3 Reviews

Channel 4's Utopia continues to develop nicely - Tuesday nights are officially the new Friday nights, at least for the remainder of the show's first series run.

As expected, I've been scribbling my observations over on my Independent arts blog, where you can locate reviews for episode two and episode three

At present the reviews are among the most read on the site, so thanks to all who have been checking in weekly to see how C4's compelling Clockwork Orange-via-doomsday-comic-book drama is panning out.

Keep checking The Independent for future posts and keep watching Utopia!

Game of Thrones Season 3

 I have a theory.

On 21st December 2012, when unseen forces were preparing to bring an end to the world, some invisible spectre realised that they had made one crucial mistake with their calculations.

They failed to factor in the fact that George R. R. Martin had not yet wrapped up his epic A Song of Ice and Fire series.

I truly believe that the Earth was spared to allow Martin to wrap up his groundbreaking fantasy series, whose television incarnation is due to return to our screens on 31 March.

Following a brilliant series two finale, we're now straying into the territory of my favourite book in the series so far, A Storm of Swords. The set pictures that have been publicised look fantastic, but I do wonder whether executive producers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss will introduce a few deviations from the source material.

As if your mouth isn't already full to the brim with saliva, check out a cool, way-too-brief 'Making Of' for season 3 here.

'Utopia' (or why graphic novels are the Best Thing Ever)

You've seen the posters. You've watched the trailers. You've set the reminders on your iPhone. Perhaps, like me, you've even been dreaming about it.

Either way, on Tuesday 15 January the new conspiracy thriller from Kudos and Channel 4 hits UK screens, as new series Utopia prepares to introduce us to a world where shady criminal organisations and geeky comic book fans clash.

At the centre of C4's new supernatural show is a graphic novel called 'The Utopia Experiments', and a mysterious company called The Network who will do anything to get hold of it. Rumour has it that the book depicts world events before they happen. Imagine that Nostradamus and Mark Millar got together and started scribbling - 'The Utopia Experiments' would be the result.

If you haven't yet caught the trailers, check them out here - then forward the link on to every person you have ever met.
